Welcome to the virtual Image Bearers Conference!
In the Gulag Archipelago, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote that, “The line separating good and evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between political parties either -- but right through every human heart -- and through all human hearts.”
In our day, it can be easy to view the world through an “us” vs. “them” lens. What may prove more useful is to recognize that those of us who are disciples have another kingdom that is at war with us. Although this war covers the entire world, there is also a battle that is confined to our individual souls (1 Peter 2:11).
Our ‘Two Kingdoms’ conference is designed to highlight the following:
- Articulate both what the gospel is as well as what it means to respond to the gospel.
- Redefine our view of the church. The church is not weak and tepid in our world of popular movie stars, trillion-dollar budgets, and seemingly invincible billionaires. During our time together, we will learn that the church is more powerful than we imagined!
- We will also learn about the dangers of Christian nationalism.
- Guidance regarding how we can ‘let our light shine’ in our neighborhoods and communities, thus giving people a “taste of God’s kingdom” will also be presented.
- Lastly, we will try to gain additional wisdom regarding when to “turn over tables” and when to “fall asleep in the boat.” We will learn how to have joy in chaos.
Knowing that God is in control and that He will be victorious should inspire us to “cast all [our] anxiety on him because he cares for [us].” 1 Peter 5:7.
